Property management: from set up to fully functional second home

Lots of people became first-time holiday homeowners during the Covid-19 pandemic, finding space and tranquillity at the Cornish coast. Amongst them, the owners of Mortegh found their way to Downderry, and enlisted the support of Pebbles to help them set up their second home, so it was ready and waiting post-lockdown and every time they visited thereafter.

Taking care of a seaside holiday home

Overlooking the waters of Whitsand and Looe Bay, only 50 yards from the water’s edge, Mortegh is a contemporary, south facing property. Designed to let in the light, it has large windows, sizeable gardens, and lots of space. It has three bedrooms, one of which is en suite, two of which are double, and two of which have doors leading onto the balcony.

Downstairs is open plan, with a kitchen area, a lounge and dining space. Beyond the windows there’s a decking area with a hot tub, then steps lead down into the garden. From there, views take you onto the beach and into the deep blue yonder.

From set up to property management

The team of local cleaners, housekeepers, and property manager from nearby Liskeard and Looe supported the property owners from the start. Knowing the client challenges of setting a property up from a distance, especially when travel is limited, they went over and beyond to make sure the house was ready to welcome them for their first holiday.

That included (but was not limited to) receiving, checking and unpacking inventory, placing the beds, sofas, and dining table, as well as processing returns and packaging waste removals. The team procured linens, processed their labelling and had everything steam cleaned in the house and had all the locks changed. They also issued stock packs as part of our housekeeping, cleaning, and property management services.

As a result, instead of spending their leisure time unpacking boxes, purchasing crockery, and making beds, the property owners found the house ready to use as soon as they arrived.
